Climbing Kili for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal

This Summer a group of New Zealanders have organised an ascent of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, to aid the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. Everyone will know that Christchurch was badly impacted by a severe earthquake and is in need of aid and support. Below is more information from the press release.

A group of Kiwis (and friends) from all around the world will climb Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest Mountain, in August 2011 to raise money for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The climbers intend to raise at least £5895 (the height of Kilimanjaro in metres, NZD$12,074) to help the city and people they hold so close to their hearts get back on their feet.

The expedition will be filmed and crafted into a documentary looking to be screened both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

All those who are embarking on the climb have a personal connection to Christchurch and are all committed to making a difference. We would like to invite you to be a part of this endeavor and join us to ‘give hope and honour those we have lost’.

Please make sure to check out their website and be sure to help them achieve their target; http://kilimanjaronz.com/. I would like to wish the whole team the best of luck, an incredible adventure for a great cause. I can tell you all that an ascent of Kilimanjaro is something you'll never forget; enjoy it as much as possible and take in the amazing things that you will see! You can follow the expedition step by step via their twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/kilimanjaronz.

Good luck and all the best!
