I just got an e-mail from the team doing the media for the Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge and thought I'd let you all know about it.This challenge, in Tasmania, is the result of a lot of hard work by the Asutralian Formula 1 driver Mark Webber. The following is from the website:
Inspired by Mark’s love of fitness and the great outdoors, the Challenge is back after a three year hiatus.
After breaking his leg in the 2008 event, Mark vowed the event would return to its original location and the stunning backdrop of Tasmania’s breathtaking scenery.
“There were a lot of people that wanted to take the event to other parts of Australia, and overseas, but Tasmania is where it started and I think it’s very important to keep it here” says Mark.
Mark loves the experience the Challenge provides to all competitors, from the elite to the beginner. Competed on a course designed to take competitors on a journey across nearly 350klm of Tasmania’s most stunning scenic locations, all the time delivering competitors the experience of a lifetime.
“I love seeing people being rewarded for putting in the hard yards. The Challenge isn’t all about elite athletes; we’ve had people turn up to compete who have never done anything like it before and they’ve amazed themselves by getting through the whole event – for many of them it’s been a life-changing experience and it’s great to see them having a go.”
The event will return bigger and better than ever, this year’s competition will run from Wednesday 7 December to Sunday 11 December 2011
The Challenge will continue to raise funds for the Mark Webber Challenge Foundation, in support of selected Australian charities.
