Thursday's Thought: Why do I write this Blog?

I suppose a big question when you start anything in life is why you start it, how you start it and when you start it. I'd been considering writing a blog for ages; one in adventure was the obvious choice as Adventure and Extreme Sports have always been a huge part of my life. As a boy I'd always be Cycling, BMXing, Skating, Roller blading or going around on my Scooter as well as going off on regular Skiing and walking holidays. I've always been a very keen Cricket player as well as a fan of Rugby, Football, a brief spell of Hockey and Squash and more! I love challenging myself and have recently decided that a life of adventure is what I aspire to; a blog seemed like a good place to start.

At the moment this blog allows me to vent my interest in the adventure world and get a foot on to the first rung of the ladder. In 2 months (tomorrow) of writing the blog I've already been presented with various opportunities and the blog hasn't even had a chance to grow yet! In 2 months I've landed doing an Internship for an Adventurer, had numerous e-mails of support, been asked to say a few words for a magazine, been asked for advice and asked to advertise. Visit numbers are sky rocketing recently and this only spurs me on to write more.

I think I've found a niche with this blog; it's hard to find quality adventure blogs and especially ones based in the UK. Most websites will concentrate on one sport or discipline or just Extreme Sports as a whole; I bring in Sports, Adventures, Expeditions, Nature and the Environment, Cool videos and a lot of my own views and opinions. I'd love to see more people writing similar blogs; if you're looking for a way in to the adventure world then I think it's a perfect one!

I write the blog not only for my own opportunities but in hope that I might inspire adventures in others; inspire people to get off the sofa and go outside and repeat what I talk about here. Adventure and Extreme Sports are growing in popularity and I hope to contribute to that.

I'm always looking for people to Interview or talk about and very happy to hear any suggestions anyone may have so please do get in contact! Enjoy the blog! It's growing and growing fast; spread the word and I'll spread the knowledge and inspiration!

Check out my other thoughts on the right hand side of the page. Enjoy!

  1. Hey! I came across your blog today and I've subscribed. Best of luck in what you're planning to do. I'm a few years older than you (24) but you've done way more than me!

Some friends and I just completed the 3 Peaks Challenge (not in 24 hours, that's a bit mental, but over about 11 months - it still counts ;) ) and we're looking for our next trip, which is how I found your blog.

Thinking about our next trip, we've come up with a few options: tall ships sailing holiday with the Tall Ships Trust; Yorkshire 3 Peaks; C2C cycling; walk the Great Glen Way.

I don't suppose you have any other ideas? I found a trip circumnavigating the Isle of Man by sea kayak, camping for 3 nights which sounded great but we're novices and you need to know what you're doing!
