Magnificent Monday: Doug Scott
Doug Scott is one of the most famous Mountaineers in the world, he was the first British person to summit Mt. Everest in 1975 and has carried out over 45 Expeditions to the Greater Ranges with 40 Summits. In 1989 Doug Scott set up the charity Community Action Nepal.
Doug Scott has undoubtedly had an incredible career and this is being recognised this year as he receives the Piolets d'Or Life Time Contribution Award. Scott follows previous winners Walter Bonatti and Reinhold Messner. Doug Scott has previously received a C.B.E. (Commander of the British Empire) and awards from the Royal Geographical Society.
